BB CREAMS vs CC CREAMS vs DD CREAMS. WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?

Hello my beautiful people! How was your weekend? Mine was amazing, as you might know it's thanksgiving weekend here in Canada so we were celebrating! That's why my Sunday post is up on Monday, I was busy all weekend. Barely had time to take part in the #bbloggers chat on Twitter. Anyway today I am going to talk about the difference between BB, CC and DD creams. The BB cream hype started in Asia and made its way to everywhere else. Now as expected, companies are trying to make things newer and better. So what's the difference you ask? Keep reading to find out!

There are tons of different BB Creams from different companies. The picture just shows a few. BB cream stands for blemish balm or beauty balm. BB Creams claim to be makeup and skincare in one. So you don't need moisturizer, primer, sunscreen, treatments or concealer/foundation. They usually have an SPF 30 or higher and aren't high coverage. The Asia BB Creams are better quality than American. They have higher coverage and more skincare. BB Creams are usually a hit or miss with people.

CC Creams are quite new to the market but there is still quite a few out there. CC Creams stands for color control or color correcting. They are pretty much the same as BB Cream but they add ingredients to cover and soothe redness, usually light reflecting particles. They also have slightly better skincare- anti-aging, hydration factor and blemish control. They are lighter on the skin than BB Creams so it virtually feels like your wearing nothing!

Now DD Creams are super new and there is not very many, which is why the picture only has 3 products. The first DD Cream to come out was by Julep and very slowly more are coming out. DD stands for dynamic do-all or daily defense which is fitting because DD Creams are essentially a BB cream and CC cream baby. They do everything a BB Cream does and what a CC Cream does but with added anti-aging factors. They are master of all creams.

As you can see the difference is very subtle. To me the DD cream sounds the best! But who knows if it actually does what it claims. I am not a huge fan of these cream products because of the coverage, they're pretty much light to maybe medium coverage, I do like the claims they make though. I don't think these creams are worth the hype at all. I DO like the Tarte BB cream though.

Thanks for reading, your beautiful and post to ya later!

Have you tried any of the creams? What are your thoughts?

  1. I never really got into the BB thing, but CC creams sounds more interesting to me and I'd be very happy to try a DD as well to see if it actually works :o). Xx

    1. Yes! My thoughts exactly. The DD Creams sound really good but also kind of too good to be true. Thanks for reading! xx
